More about Ruckus and Rucking
Using a weighted backpack for working out is called rucking. So feel free to say “I’m going to Ruckus today to ruck with my rucksack”. Or I Feel like causing a Ruckus with my Ruck sack while rucking.” Good. Now say that 10x.
This idea of rucking has been around for centuries even dating back to the Roman Empire when soldiers would carry weighted implements over great distances to condition themselves for battle. The modern military also has used a form of rucking for the same reasons.
NYC trainers Mike Lickwar and Sam Ansman created their own version of rucking called RUCKUS to disturb a prevailing trend in group fitness to be done in crowded, indoor spaces with random, sub-optimal exercises. They make outdoor exercise is an essential piece of your wellness profile.
The weighted backpack is a versatile tool- it’s simple to set-up and can be used for for presses, squats, deadlifts and variety of functional exercises that help you get strong for life. Also, simply walking with pack will challenge your cardio, improve bone density, work your core and improve your posture.
Exercising outdoors for each week increases sense of well-being, reduces stress, increases vitamin d exposure, promotes cognitive creativity, and is associated with lower risk for cardiovascular and metabolic disorders.
There is an emerging trend in health studies highlighting the tremendous cognitive and psychological benefits for people who devote time each week to outdoor activity. RUCKUS class is designed to capitalize on these benefits and enhance them by integrating top-notch exercise programs in outdoor environments.
Training in a small group creates social support system, promotes accountability, and is just fun! Class size is limited to 10 people for effective coaching and so the experience doesn’t feel crowded. According to their National Strength and Conditioning Association the optimal coach to athlete ratio should go no higher than 1:12 when working with complex movement.
